by cp turner on 2017-08-13

The Girl who Tumbled from the Clouds, a serial novel. This thriller of an adventure tells the story of when the planet heated and the ice caps melted, during a time which came to be known as the Great Melting, it seemed that human-kind would vanish from the earth forever. This dystopian novel tells how as the ice caps melted, land masses slowly submerged into the rising seas. Major parts of North America, Europe, Asia, Africa, and Australia disappeared. The only remnants being Oceans were left as boiling, dead cesspools, and all was enveloped by a choking and unbreathable smudge.

One place, the Risen Land, -- the land that arose out from the glaciers and ice flows of the ancient continent of Antarctica -- managed to remain free of the grip of destruction and provided a safe haven for small bands of refugees and ancient life forms, now able to thrive once more as the survivors began to care and maintain the environment.

But this land of clean water and fresh air, standing high above the dystopian ‘land of smudge’ that is the remnants of the planet, is no longer the place of safety it once was and has become the target of the insatiable Monstrato Corporation, and its army of NeanderGen Pacificator clones.

Living among the detritus of a world long-gone is Ròna, a young Water Protector. When she finds a familiar face in a wounded man, she does what others would deem dangerous. She takes him in, shielding him from the local ‘director’ for the Corporation, a sadistic hunter, bent on expunging the Insurge who seek only to stop the violation their sacred lake, the last pure water on earth.

Although their differences are many, and he’s got a bad reputation, Ròna can’t help but fall in love for Finlay. Their romance blossoms in this future world, and soon, their relationship leads to marriage. She wants nothing but to live a peaceful life, but is thrown into a desperate battle in the post-apocalyptic desert of the ruined world to save her child, her husband and the community she lives in, fighting against a monstrous corporation that has already laid waste to the greater portion of the earth and now lays claim to the last unspoiled refuge of life.

As the evil Pacificators pursue them with relentless ferociousness across dangerous terrain, high into the mountains, desperate for reprieve, Ròna finds herself wondering if there is any hope of survival for herself, her child, her husband, her land, and her people.
