Turning Points: Parallax Book Two

by Marina Landry on 2018-09-26

The warden's daughter witnesses an officer sneaking food to prisoners, and negotiates keeping his secret. She didn't bargain on the danger, or falling in love.
Lidia Hamaké’s curiosity compels her to accompany her father to his new post as warden of the rebel prison on Earth, the sparsely populated planet at the center of Unity’s orbit.
Lidia tends to fabricate her universe into what she wishes it to be and, despite her father’s objections, she looks forward to her evening walks where her imagination can run free. None of her fantasies are as incredible as witnessing the pompous young UPG officer Tomas Quaid giving supplies to rebel prisoners in the shadows of night.
Lidia agrees to keep Quaid’s secret. All he has to do is accompany her on her walks to appease her father. To her surprise, Quaid proves to be an intelligent listener who appreciates the fantastic stories she tells, and shows her more respect than anyone she left behind on the spacecolony Unity.
But Tomas Quaid is as good a liar as Lidia is. Falling in love with the enigmatic young officer soon becomes a dark maze of secrets and imaginary voices, and a matter of life or death.

Earther Ana Sylvan is looking forward to working at the new prison as an escape from her life of farming. For generations, natives of Earth have been forced to export large quantities of food to Unity, the spacecolony their ancestors built to guarantee the survival of the human race. The UPG military corporation has built the prison on Earth to hold and hide the Freestanders fighting to end its reign over the citizens of Unity.
Ana soon realizes the rebels are not the real criminals.

Bearing fresh scars, Hart James leads his fellow Freestanders to escape the UPG prison. When he discovers Ana's role in his freedom and the sacrifices she made, Hart pledges to support her efforts to oust the UPG troops from Earth.
Together, Ana and Hart struggle to overcome personal tragedies, to accept the passion igniting between them, and to provide justice for the inhabitants of a new Earth. Through their tests of courage, they forge an unbreakable bond of love.

Jul Kisling leaves behind her career, her friends, her powerful family, even her home planet Akila, all to save twelve homeless children.  She expected her quest to be difficult, but she didn't foresee how unpredictable -- and attractive -- her Earther pilot would become. Nor could she have predicted being pursued across the galaxy by ruthless adversaries on both sides of the law. Has she transported the children into even greater danger?
Jul Kisling's heart aches for the homeless children living beyond her office window. Her father, Chancellor of the Third Quadrant of Akila, refuses to use his power to help them. Frightened but determined, Jul secretly searches for transportation to bring some of the children to a newly-colonized planet.
Marc Prejean is an out-of-work, out-of-money Earth starpilot living on the land of his Cajun ancestors. Wrongfully convicted of smuggling and recently released from forcedsleep, he reluctantly agrees to Jul's proposition. His desperate situation, the betrayal of his wife and brother, the loss of his starpilot license, and his stolen six years have left Marc angry and withdrawn.
Marc and Jul begin a journey of agonizing mistrust, smoldering sexual desire, and the shared goal of safeguarding the twelve children from unexpected dangers.
